Little is known about one of the most expensive yet more preferred coffee available. It’s found solely in some countries of South East Asia. The bean normally known as “Cafe Alamid” is produced in Indonesia, Vietnam , East Timor and also the Philippines but is reputed and handed out in all parts worldwide.

What’s even more astonishing is it’s location of creation. As opposed to most coffee which come from crops that mature in the soil. This kind of coffee uses it’s term from a small animal called Alamid in the Philippines’ also referred to as the Asian Palm Civet or the Philippine Civet Cat (although it is not an associate of the feline family).

Record states that it all started out when a group of coffee farmers examined the droppings of these small animals after a night long feast of coffee cherries. Unmindful of any probable medical concerns, these native farmers began cleaning, roasting and brewing these droppings which eventually became well known and gave way to a completely new and unorthodox coffee making. A study was executed and researchers invented an ordinary process in cleaning and roasting these exotic coffee beans to eliminate any hazardous bacterias while keeping it’s unique taste and aroma. There were also reports that answered why these droppings create this great tasting coffee. As the coffee beans pass the natural way of digestion inside the Alamid (where it actually retains it’s organic form and texture) – their digestive enzymes are implanted into the beans. What makes it better is the reason that they will only take in the sweetest and ripest coffee cherries.

These days, Cafe Alamid is starting to essentially create a name for itself being a top-grade coffee that sells up to as much as 1000 dollars per pound. A few cafes serve them at $33 per cup.
