Breakfast the Bosch Way

If I say Bosch, I’m pretty sure that the first thing you’ll think of will be a Bosch washing machine (I’m not going to go anywhere near what you might think of next). But washing machines are not their only output. In fact, there are a number of other Bosch appliances that are better suited for making you breakfast than washing your clothes.

Bosch’s range of coffee machines, for example, is actually quite impressive, and many of need a cup of Joe in order to get going in the mornings. Did you know that coffee, rather than a bean, is in fact a bright red berry? What we use is the dried seed from inside. Traditionally over the years it has been associated with intellectuals and revolutionaries alike (not that you can’t be both!), while in days gone by Turkish wives were promised to be kept in coffee by their bridegrooms else they could threaten divorce. Additionally we apparently have coffee to thank for the word “tip”, this formed from an acronym of “To Insure Promptness” which was engraved on conspicuously placed brass boxes in some of the very first coffee houses

If coffee’s not your thing, however, you could always use a Bosch blender to whip up a nice smoothie, which can be either sweet or savoury due to the recent popularity of so-called “green” smoothies (usually more vegetables than fruit).

There’s also the breakfast classic of toast be considered, as Bosch also has a surprisingly large range of toasters. The browning of toast is called by the Maillard reaction, a chemical reaction between an amino acid and a reducing sugar usually requiring heat. These days you can cook a whole lot more than just bread in a toaster, the invention of toaster bags allowing the preparation of anything from sandwiches to scrambled eggs.

After making all these, come to think of it, you might need that Bosch dishwasher after all!
