Recently I read an article about popcorn machines that are powered by tweets that mention people eating popcorn. This machine “pops” a piece of popcorn each time it reads a feed that says something to the effect of “I’m eating popcorn right now”. The contraption will probably not be an item that would have a lot of market value, but it is a great example of people’s love affair with tasty popcorn.
Technology has made it possible for everyone to own their own popcorn machine. No, I’m not talking about the microwave oven. I would never accuse a microwave of being a good popcorn popper.
It is a lot easier to make popcorn poppers in the 21st century. The ability to import raw metals and the fantastic efficiency of the assembly line has made it possible for companies to make machines at a low cost. People do not have to purchase a theater or a carnival to own or operate a commercial popcorn popper.
The Internet has also made purchasing a popcorn maker much easier in the 21st century. The Internet has made it much easier to find a popcorn maker for sale. You can find brand new machines through a whole slew of online vendors. Used machines can also be found online through classified advertisements and auction sites such as Ebay.
Popcorn makers purchased in an online store are always more reasonably priced than the ones you can purchase at brick and mortar stores. Businesses that operate online do not have as many costs as businesses that operate locally and can therefore share the price cut with their customers. Bringing the price down on these machines has been great for people that love great popcorn but do not want to leave their house each night to get it.
Shopping online has made it easier to get a popcorn popper to the house. In the past the customer would need to own a van or truck so that they could pick the popcorn popper up. If they did not have a way to successfully transport their machine they would have to pay for an expensive delivery. Purchasing a machine through the Internet will usually end with the customer getting the machine delivered to their house. Usually delivery will be low cost or even complimentary. Doesn’t everybody want to go shopping right from their computer desk?
